Soro tries to apologize for calling LeBron dumb and then goes on a Trumpian cancel culture rant. Gerald smartly avoided any political conversations.
One of the challenges in society and families today is how do your deal with the Trumpers? We’ve seen that with certain longtime contributors on this blog leave due to politics.
Reality is we may never see a return to the civil and respectful society we once had. Trump has removed any restraints from the far right pushing lies and disinformation as their SOP.

Tom while I do not agree with Joe’s statements on player empowerment and have said so then and numerous times in the past year-plus, he is another side of that conversation and we can better understand why there is such hostility for those like LeBron who wish to use their God-given right to express their opinions. I have spoken to Joe and expressed my wish to try and keep on more on-court issues going forward although much to LakerTom’s request I have a feeling I am not going to avoid a vaccination topic with him at some point (hint: please vaccinate).

The T’Wolves: where good choices go to die…
Can KAT and DAR play more than a handful of meaningless games together this season is really the only question. I have to agree with Megan that they need to do something that can shake some lethargy out of that organization. Feels like once the fire of KG left nothing has ever brought it back they’ve gone into perpetual hibernation.
Spurs will win more than 29 games, Pop will pass the all-time wins mark. Megan with some awesome insight into Spurs modern era thinking, good stuff!!!
LOVE the WNBA shout out, my Sparks have been floundering a bit in recent seasons…

Good to get at least part of the Lakerholics gang back on a podcast. Great job by Gerald and Sean. What a pleasure to talk about Russ at the 1, LeBron at the 4, and FINALLY AD at the 5.
Biggest news of the offseason? Lakers committing to play small. If any Lakers fan wants to understand why LeBron and AD need to move to the 4 and 5 to make Russ at the 1 work, this is the podcast to listen to.
I just listened to the podcast again on this morning’s hike and thought it was one of the best we’ve ever done. Gerald ran the pod like the host extraordinaire he is and Sean AKA Magicman chimed in with some terrific takes sprinkled with key historical stats on playmaking via Russ, Rondo, and LeBron.
Give us a listen. If you love the Lakers, you will love this podcastr and be as excited as we are for the Lakers’ upcoming championship quest for #18.

Great podcast with Gerald, Sean, and myself discussing the Lakers likely starting, closing, and other lineups for the coming season.
Please listen if you want to hear the best arguments for starting and closing games with Russ at the 1, LeBron at the 4, and AD at the five. https://t.co/4GNnfYOj9b

Congrats Raf!!! Being married is a ton of fun, always nice to have a partner/backup and hopefully there will be some mini-Barlowe’s running around, canning step back threes real soon! Dallas and Hawaii…kinda similar.
Portland needs to dedicate themselves more on defense. Not sure who they got that moves that needle a lot. LNJ, I suppose, Snell maybe?
Health is defining trait in the NBA. Phoenix and Milwaukee: healthy, played deep and strong. Every other team except Atlanta and New York (too young).
Is there a player more toxic than Ben Simmons right now? Nope…
Philly needs to decide how they want to move forward and not get overly tied up in the return on Simmons. You will not be getting a superstar player back unless it’s John Wall, that’s it. I can’t see a GM looking at a budding or arrived star talent and parting with them for SImmons. You’re gonna be lucky to get a top ten first-rounder. Otherwise they’re going to experience Kawhi as a Spur 2.0 but with a far smaller market for their guy.

I thought this was one of the better recent podcasts. Great sprited conversation with Gerald, Jamie, and Sean. Take a listen and give us a 5 star review on Apple podcasts. Thanks.
Not a lot of love for DeAndre. In fact, i just published an article where I predicted him to be a DNP, even though I was in favor of replacing Marc with him because I prefer his rim protection and dunks over Marc’s reluctance stretch five role.
Big part for me is I believe having only Dwight and DeAndre makes it certain that AD is going to start and play most minutes at the five. That will be the difference maker for the Lakers’ regular season.
The regular season is where you work on your game and develop chemistry, experience, and figure out how to play your best. Thinking you can just switch it up when you get to the playoffs is a pipe dream. Only reason it worked for Lakers in the bubble is that LeBron and AD shot extremely well from midrange and deep, far better than ever before in the playoffs.
Lakers can’t count on that happening again. They need to work hard all season to fine tune their small ball attacks and hit the playoffs with a well tuned machine that will shut down the Nets.

The Ben Simmons story will be the thunder cloud hanging over the NBA when camp opens. Evidently the 76ers met with Ben and his rep and he’s willing to sit out camp. Under contract for 4 years, 76ers would be crazy to suspend him as that would be the end of their hopes to get a big return package. Several teams, none named, saying they made “fair offers” for Ben but were rebuffed. The thing with living on the edge is eventually you fall off, Trader Darryl. Could be he’s waited too long for a haul that never existed.
Rondo should be considered mentor only material until the playoffs, maybe even then. DAJ…just don’t see the logic.
