Wins are always more fun than losses on the podcast. Lots of praise for LeBron’s huge game. I’m looking for LeBron to put on his scorer’s jersey and put together a string of a half dozen 40 and 50 point games. Lakers have 3 winnable games this week before facing the Suns next Sunday. Need to go into that game with a 4-game winning streak.
Also impressive game from Austin Reaves on defense. These teams continue to pick on the skinny white kid thinking it’s going to be easy. Meanwhile, Austin continues to get better and better. Made some plays last night that were pure Caruso-esque.
Loved the starting lineup of Russ, Monk, Reaves, and Johnson surrounding LeBron. Still some crazy lineups from Frank, who at one point had a lineup with Augustin, Bradley, and THT. Lakers starters other than Stanley did great. Bench other than Melo did not play well.
Liked that Frank limited rotation to 9 players. Just need better contributions from Johnson, Bradley, Horton-Tucker, and Augustin if we’re going to make a run. LeBron going to be looking to score big time the rest of the season. He may win scoring title this year at 37-year old.

Joe is right. Lakers are clueless. Russ is clueless. Frank is clueless. The perfect word to describe the Lakers. Thanks for showing up, Joe, so I could take the night off. Yes, it’s the worst Lakers season I’ve ever rooted for. This team is almost not worth venting for.
But Joe does a good job. The other thing is I agree with Gerald that Luka is really specia and Jason Kidd has done a great job with the Mavs, who have now won 21 of their last 28 games. Lakers actually played well to have a chance to beat the Mavs without AD.
Where do we go from here? Bench Russ if he’s not going to be here next season. Fire Frank if you can convince Fizdale or Handy to become Interim. Play the younger players, the guys who will be here next season.
Good podcast, guys. See you Thursday night.

Always a tough podcast when the Lakers blow an opportunity to win a game by poor execution down the stretch and no real semblence of smart coaching and play execution to close out the game. The only thing this team is proving right now is Frank Vogel is not the right coach for this team.
When everytning seems to change but we still lose, there’s a point in time where you have to ask yourself whether the problem with this team is the head coach and his inability to run anything resembling a championship caliber offense.
Yes, I know we have three superstars and that makes it difficut to call plays but this team is no longer listening to Frank Vogel and we should make a change now to get a head start on a coaching search so we don’t derail our summer by wasting early free agency trying to get a coach instead of upgrading the roster.

Ah, LakerTom, LakerTom SMH. Thanks for the feedback but if you had watched, listened, or READ THE DESCRIPTION by clicking the article you would have seen we spent a portion on “the ongoing mess with the Lakers” speaking on the many, many troubles with the organization including what Stone believes are the best thoughts anyone has said on what is needed for the team going forward. Remember, many Lakers fans (like Stone) are not just Lakers fans but basketball fans, and a good portion of that audience tries to keep up to date with the entire NBA landscape. That’s why the description of the podcast says we “provide a fresh look at the latest news and trends with the Lakers AND the rest of the NBA”. Besides who knows? Maybe the Lakers will find a way to buy (or trade) their way into a pick. There are a number of skilled defensive-minded big men mentioned on this program that could be available on the back end of the first round/second round that the team could certainly use.

Great game and glad Jamie was able to join you on the podcast. I loved the half-time ceremony even though it was too long. And the new game format certainly works when Steph and LeBron put on their ‘kids from Akron” show like they did last night. Steph’s one two was probably his best shot of the night – a 20’ high floater that swished.
Looking forward to some great games and podcasts starting Friday night.

LOL. I thought we had stopped recording and dropped a couple of F bombs thinking we were just talking between Gerald, Joe, and me. But great win by the Lakers and, despite AD getting injured, no break and he will be back before the playoffs. We’re still a 25 to 1 shot to win it all but , as we all know, anything can happen.

Always a lot more fun after a Lakers win. Both Joe and I predict the Lakers will upset the Suns on Sunday for a big win. What a game from LeBron. I said after the 56-point game, that we’re likely to see a stretch of high scoring LeBron games including more 40 and 50-point games. LeBron ramping it up to get ready for the playoffs.
Loved how Frank Vogel benched Russ with 8 minutes to go in game. Russ missed 5 layups at the rim. Each one resulted in the Wizards getting a 4 or 5-point swing as a result. Time has come for Lakers to realize they would be a better team without Russ as a starter. Time to reduce his role and ability to hurt this team.
