Would have very much liked to have contributed to this one but couldn’t get away from bedtime in time.
I have 50/50 odds on Russ getting traded this summer.
The whole Vogel thing is also known as Scapegoating 101. Ridiculous.
I have just about zero faith the Lakers FO has learned anything at all. Every choice made since winning the title has smacked of pride and nothing resembling intelligence.
I agree with LT that Russ is highly likely to wait until a day or so to pick up his option.
Quinn will not be coaching the Lakers. Utah would have fired him, he hasn’t asked out and so on.
Does anyone notice when a dog barks? No. That’s exactly how I feel about everything Patrick Beverly says. Respect his tenacity, it ends there. Who cares what that dude thinks.
Agreed on paying respect to those that paved the way before you. Whether it’s Bob Cousy, MLK, or Pablo Picasso. There’s a reason Reddick and Beverly are making the coin they certainly enjoy now. Just silly to disparage the past like that, shows an utter lack of perspective.
Agreed LT, no desire to see Beverly in the P&G.
Just say no to CP3. Now and then.

Prepare yourselves gentlemen…Westbrook is highly likely to be staying, IMO. All the hand-wringing in the world won’t make a good deal materialize and, honestly, Rob wouldn’t be doing his job if he just made a deal to move him for crap.
Russ is a locker room issue? That’s a job for the new coach to handle. Russ doesn’t fit well with LeBron and Company? Same and also what player are we going to get that will be better? John Wall? Nope. Go-Hay? I mean…if he plays at all…maybe?
Anyhoo, gird you loins, boys, my bet is on Russ still being in a purple and gold uni come camp.

Odds of Russ being traded this summer, trade deadline, or not.
Summer – 90%
Trade Deadline – 9%
Not – 1%-
-
Summer- 40%
Trade Deadline- 40%
Summer- 19%
Getting a 5-year extension just to piss off Joe and LakerTom- 1%

Was not able to make it on last night, my apologies. I was beat from the 9 walks and chasing a 4.5 year old around the stadium top to bottom and around and around.
-“There’s always two sides to every trade.” meaning a realistic and whaaaaaaaat the fuuuuuuuu- side lol
-The one issue I see with Tom’s super expanded version of his trade notions (aka: the walk off grand slam trade proposal) is that you’re asking a team to, essentially, blow up the entire team for three players they’re either going to buy out (Russ) and 2 others that are pretty likely to walk (THT and Nunn).
-There is a very real, and not wholly unintelligent, path to Russ staying all season and finishing out his deal with us.
-I prefer for Russ to play it out rather than W&S. Personal feeling simply because I don’t like the idea of pay not to play. “They’re on drugs!!!” LOL!
-One thing we don’t often talk about is what the value of the draft picks are 5 years out. I think they’ll be worth more than maybe we think they are now.
-Kenneth Stone has some positive contributions, and he deserved his cohost add on to the title.
-Who here really think Russ will come off the bench? Come on man.
-I disagree with Russ not playing for the Lakers. I think he carries with him a level of heart and professionalism that will make this work. I’m willing to at least entertain Kenneth’s notions on Russ.
-
-Knicks ain’t dealing with us. They made it known before the season was over but also after they were out of the playoffs so nothing has changed. Waste of time to concoct trade proposals with the Knickerbockers unless you really want to overpay…like the deal Gerald mentions. That’s just all bad for the Lakers except you get Randle who has the ability to sulk even more than Russ does.
-I think, even if he seems semi-willing to sign the extension, we should at least entertain the idea of trading LeBron. We definitely should take calls on AD.
-To Gerald’s point: we will never see a full season from Davis. It’s just not gonna happen.
-HOTLANTA! I love this trade partner because it feels like we can get players that fit in with what we need: defense. Laker Tom won’t want Clint, he can’t shoot threes lol. Tom cannot abide the idea of a center that only does things that centers should be good at. If they don’t hit threes at a roughly 34-36% range he’s no good.
-I would prefer to bring a center in. If they can hit threes, wonderful, if not at least be good on D and dunk.
-Wizards trade proposal: Tom didn’t think that one through. Hard to see why Washington would trade for the guy they just traded for to bring in a player they traded away. Makes absolutely no sense…from Washington’s perspective.
-LT will leave no stone unturned. W&S is a bad idea both for now and the future. Doubles down on a bad move. Take the hit for the one season.
-What’s up Kenneth Stone!!!!
-Thank you for the kind words, Mr. Stone.
-I like Kenneth’s positivity. Hard for me to disagree with mainly because of how the season went down. I think the Lakers did wrong by Russ and Frank and they don’t want to admit it. They did not set anyone up for success based on how they conducted business last summer.
-The reasons for keeping Russ continue to build. Kenneth has almost got me convinced.
-THT & a 1st for Caruso! Return of the GOAT!!!!

The optics are awful, could have been avoided. The question isn’t do you want to coach the team and all the glittery side benefits that come with it, the question is do you really want to be the next Laker Fall Guy? The job obviously comes with a high level of uninvited micro management and involvement from non coaches. I think we’re going ti settle, again, on a less than optimum candidate. We’ll get either a newbie that LeBron doesn’t listen to or a 3rd tier candidate.

Good point about Dray and a lack of drama. We function in a world of self-manufactured drama. When we one, there were no leaks, little drama (save Kobe’s passing which soaked it all up maybe?).

Effing ESPN. With 3:17 left in the fourth quarter, ESPM switched to SportsCenter and didn’t show the rest of regulation or OT when we won. Mini-Heidi goof, probably due to all of the long delays that made the broadcast unusually long.
Of course, I’m online with Gerald during all of this and he can hear me cursing as I try to find ESPN2 to see if the game is there and then screaming when it’s obvious that the best I can do is Gerald’s stumbling play-by-play. Nice win, LOOOOOOONNNNG game.

Good stuff from Tom and I, give a listen and Gerald would be over the moon if you gave the podcast a 5 star review.
