Give this show a listen. I think it was one of our best after a loss. Great discussion on what the Lakers need to do, on which players are showing up, and which players should be traded.
Lots of positivity despite losing the game and talk about the silver lining that the Lakers can still make moves to help improve the roster and stay alive until LeBron and AD get back.
Some realistic talk also about how tight the West is and how the Lakers now have only a 2 loss lead on the 7th place Spurs with the 7th and 8th place teams playing for the #7 seed and the 9th and 10th place teams fighting for a shot to play the loser of the 7th and 8th teams for the 8th seed. Lakers likely to be in the play-in tourney unless they make a big move at the deadline.

Like I said on the podcast, Lakers may be lucky that this injury happened now with four days to go until the trade deadline rather than afterwards. At least it gives us a chance to do something big before it’s too late. That may be the silver lining we need. Both superstars out for an indefinite period of time. That’s a clear call for Rob to be thinking bold to save this season. No standing pat or making small moves. We need a quality point guard who can run the offense and an elite rim protector to anchor the defense.
We saw some great play the last four games when LeBron sat and that’s what we’re going to need the next few weeks. Pick and rolls with Trezz, who played like a warrior tonight, and ball screens for THT to attack the rim. KCP needs get going or get sat. He was terrible at both ends. Can’t have as starting guard averaging 8 points per game and afraid to shoot. No time for Vogel to playing the long game. If Lakers don’t make big moves and the team doesn’t play at their peak, we could easily be fighting for the playoffs and LeBron and AD fighting to get into playoff shape the last 2 to 4 weeks of the season.
Time for the players, coaches, and front office to put on their big boy pants or this season is toast. Basketball gods taketh away. Lakers need to go big to get them to giveth it back. There are big moves the Lakers can make to turn a silver lining into a championship. Can’t do that by being timid. Big boy time.

Some excellent back and forth about the game, LeBron’s focus, LaMelo’s performance, the missed bunnies, and the upcoming trade deadline and Woj’s comments about the Lakers wanting to create financial flexibility for this summer with Caruso, THT, and Schroeder being free agents. Also talked about Drummond, Otto Porter, Jr. and the possibility the Lakers made a trade for one of them instead of waiting for a buyout to get that cap flexibility and Bird rights to keep them. Give a listen. Always fun when we win.

C’mon Laker fans, let’s see who’s your Final Four and Winner of this year’s NCAA Tournament!
-
I don’t watch college hoops, never have. Always had issues with those kids putting it all on the line and not making a dime. Glad that’s changing albeit at a glacial pace.
-
LOL. Sean called me out for not watchng college basketball and he’s right although I do monitor how UCLA is doing since it’s one of my alma maters. Had to do some homework to make my predictions though. Went with Gonzaga and Mark Few to beat to go undefeated and win it all.

Always a fun podcast when the Lakers dominate, even when they don’t play their usual elite defense. Give a listen, Lakerholics. i think Gerald and I covered some interesting issues, including talking about my proposed Myles Turner trade and the news the Lakers have talked to the Pacers about trading for him.
One of the interesting developments since I proposed trading Kuz, Trezz, and THT for Myles Turner is how what I call the Bench Big Three has upped their performances.
On Monday, Kuz dropped 17, Trezz 27, and THT 18 for 62 points. Last night, Kuz dropped 16, Trezz 25, and THT 16 for 57 points. Pretty impressive for 3 players who averaged 11.9, 14.2, and 7.5 or 33.6. The Bench Big Three increased their points by 77%.
Needless to say, if we could get this kind of productivity every game from Kuz, Trezz, and THT, the Lakers would be a dramatically better team. Of course, the problem is we don’t play the Warriors and Timberwolves every game.
At any rate, great to see the Bench Big Three thrive. Makes the Lakers better and ups their trade value dramatically.

The best thing about this game was the Lakers never allowed the Warriors to get a lead and every time they got up by 6 points, they were able to get a stop and come back down and build the lead to 8 or 9 points, then 10 or 12 points, etc.
Terrific game by Kuzma, Harrell, and Horton-Tucker to support LeBron James. This is what the Lakers need to do every game. Come out motivated and ready to play great basketball. My only concern, as I stated on the podcast, is the Lakers thinking they don’t need help and not making a big trade to upgrade their rim protection and volume 3-point shooting. The Dubs are NOT the Clippers, Jazz, or Nets.

Next 3 Wins Could Put Nuggets & Rockets in Lakers’ Rearview Mirror

5 Things: Finding Some Grit
65 games in and the team is starting to look a little sterner, little grittier. One of the ugliest first halves I’ve seen since the 90’s man. The win was one of the more impressive of the season, in my opinion. 1) Luka finding solace on the court. Sounds like his personal life has been […]
