Aloha,
I never thought I would say this, but if we don’t sign Ayton, we are screwed. We have watched every decent center sign contracts in our price range while we wait on a head case to make a decision. And now the Pacers suddenly need a center.
I am totally against this 2 year contract nonsense. It’s pie in the sky, hoping a star walks, when most stars move via sign and trade these days. The way things are going, Rob doesn’t have to worry about it because he won’t be around in two years.
Even Jericho has signed, for crying out loud. Not only are missing out on the decent centers, we are losing depth pieces as well. I wonder what Luka is thinking. No center and his close friend walked because of the stupid two year thing.
Michael, you are absolutely right.
NBA free agency has exploded out of the gates—and somehow, the Lakers are left watching from the sidelines. While teams are feasting on big-time signings like wolves on the hunt, our glaring need at center remains a massive void. It’s maddening!
It feels like the free agency kicked off like a fireworks show—and the Lakers brought a sparkler to a missile fight. Every team’s out here grabbing centers like they’re on a Black Friday sale, and we’re just browsing the empty shelves. It’s like showing up to a potluck with an empty plate and a dream.
Never saw it coming.
Absolutely agree with you 100%, Michael. Lakers will have over $100M in cap space next summer and even if a superstar is not available, they can load up with covetable two-way role players on team friendly contracts that are the trading chips they will need for a trade if no free agent.
I could see not signing any long term contracts and holding onto the pick until next summer but waiting two seasons is like suicide. Luka should be pissed. Can’t wait until Mark Walter takes over although he may have approved this for all we know.
