The higher volume of threes is critical for Lakers. Ball and Reddick together shot 37.5% and created 141 more points or 5.64 additional points per game than Schroder and KCP who only shot 36.4% combined. That’s ignoring KCP’s shooting decline and Lonzo’s shooting ascension.
This is the kind of trade Rob needs to be seeking. The Lakers are losing the 3-point differential. They’re making 10.9 threes per game (26th best) and allowing 11.3 threes per game (3rd best). Problem is not 3PT defense. It’s 3PT offense. Need high vol and high % 3PT shooters.
While Lonzo has his flaws, he’s the best defender and playmaker among the 4 players and a perfect fit for LeBron and AD. Reddick is not a long term solution and hasn’t played well this year but if he rebounds, he could be another high vol, high % 3-point shooter the Lakers need.
