The Westbrook experiment with LBJ has worked better than I expected. It’s the rest of the team that is letting them down. Injuries, COVID, all if it has made it easier to place Russ in the fall guy slot. I ain’t buying’ that line. Russ isn’t the problem. We cheaper out on the back end. Bought the Ferrari but only the Geico insurance and the mechanic down the road for maintenance. Sad.
I’ve been quietly very encouraged by what I’ve seen from Russ and LeBron playing together. You don’t have to look hard to start to see that they’re starting to figure some important things out.
What’s impressed me most is how both of them have shown great skill and timing while playing off the ball. They both have made some great cuts and the one thing about playing with each other is they know the other guy will get the ball to them if they cut.
I think LeBron and Russ both playing off the ball is going to be a big part of the Lakers attack going forward. I know we’ll at times revert to the iso ball that frustrates me so much but with AD out, we’ve not seen as much of that.
Instead, the LeBron/Russ two man games gets its chance. And when you think about it, it’s not a surprise that Russ running pick-and-rolls with LeBron could be the Lakers most lethal weapon. Bron is such a good screener and roller. But same is true of Russ. Both can overpower their defender in the post.
So while we’re treading water, we’re making strides. Poor results but better process. As we get key players back, we’ll hopefully see that process translate into wins.

I agree, Tom.
LOL!
Hahaha! That is really funny, Jamie. That made my day.
