Kind of surprising but I’ll wager this was a long time coming internally. They had rode the coattails of that banner for a couple seasons now and it’s hard to see anything resembling a direction or an identity these days.
Having said that, before anyone thinks this means he’ll come to the Lakers, my guess is he goes overseas and manages NBA Africa league and brings it up.
