While i was laughing at Jamie’s suggestion that we sign Boogie when he is waived during the podcast, there is one reason why I would consider bringing him back and that’s 3-point shooting.
Right now, our centers are averaging 2.2 threes per game. Boogie was averaging 4.6 threes per game and has a history of even taking as many as 8 per game before his injury. He’s not going to be a great defender but I think there’s a role for him as a volume 3-point shooter right now. Once AD returns, I could even see him being the better starter than Marc with AD to help him on defense.
Lakers are apparently considering going after him and I think it could be a great move. Right now, Kuzma at 4.2 threes per game is our most prolific deep threat. I’d start Boogie and let him fire 7 or 8 threes per game to open up the floor and prevent teams from doubling LeBron and packing the paint. We can’t win shooting the same number of threes per game as our top five defense is holding opposing teams to.
