NEXT YEAR LEBRONS 'FAREWELL TOUR?'First, we had Rich Paul saying he had absolutely zero idea how long LeBron was going to keep on playing. Then, we had reports that LeBron was not going to be signing a new deal with a discount so the team could use the NT MLE.Now we have… https://t.co/Fpnwqy9hHL pic.twitter.com/S72iUpsYo2— LakerTom (@LakerTom) May 27, 2025
FROM THE ABOVE ARTICLE:
“I’m told he’s likely to opt in. He’s got a player option of about $54 million, a massive player option. That’s likely. That’s the plan. But again, his option date is June 29. So he still has about a month to figure it out. He still has to have some hard conversations that are gonna happen between him and the Lakers to see what this team looks like. Because listen, LeBron James, whether he plays one more season or a few more seasons, he wants to be in a competitive environment. And I said it when I came on when their season ended, he’s probably gonna opt in because the option is so big and then that gives you flexibility to figure out, do you extend off that number, or this is the final year if this is the last hurrah essentially. Year 23 for No. 23, they have All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. So to me, it’s very storybook if that’s the way it goes. But, that’s a decision that he’s gotta make.”
Why retire if can still play at his level?
Can’t truly move on & build around Luka until LeBron hangs em up. He’s just too much…too much influence, too much salary, too much personality…all of it. It’ll never be Luka’s team even if he’s the best player on the floor.
AD or Luka not prepared!
Yup.. Same thing happened at the end of Kobe’s era. That team had no business talking playoff runs and every season there was a group of starry-eyed kids talking about banners and playoffs hopes and none of it was remotely feasible given the roster around an aged superstar.
This is a little bit different, and it’s going to be interesting to see which players want to stick around to play with Luka, but it’s hard to see this transition into something different while LBJ is playing.
Nobody knows. Freak wants LA. Bet LBJ would take a cut for him. Freak and Luka, wow. Milwaukee has to rebuild. Take Reaves, Rui, Konnection, Picks!
Vet minimum…hilarious…
I just absolutely love to watch people make decisions about other people’s money on blogs and podcasts. It’s utterly absurd, to think that a professional who pours hours of every day into just getting ready to play would do all of that for pennies on the dollar is just dumb. It’s insulting to their craft, it’s insulting to the work ethos that got them there and it’s an insult to the sport and the Basketball Gods.
Now it seems, although the final decision is yet to be made, that there will be zero hometown discount (beyond the one he agreed to last season already) and he’ll simply pick up the option. Smart for him and his family. Not his job to build the team. It is his job to make money for the James family.
End of debate.
He is a Billionaire. Want a Ring or more $$ that you or your family don’t need?
I’m sure you’re in the habit of just giving money away then? Please…let’s not be ridiculous here. Nobody gives away millions of dollars. N-O-B-O-D-Y.
E-V-E-R-R-R-R-R.
As if taking a pay cut somehow guarantees a ring. Especially with Genius Masterclass Robby P at the helm.
Ya know what is guaranteed?
Cold hard cash my man.
Bill Gates, Melinda Gates and such. And look how much $$ Musky and trumpett are giving away, what, they ain’t? LOL

That’s money they already made, not potential earnings. Only guy taking a paycut is the Prez of the US and that’s cause he’s making that all back in graft and Bitcoin malarky lol
