question. Maxey is a RFA. Is that where we could Offer $35 or such Mil per and Philly has to match to keep him?

Aloha,
Wow, LeBron had an amazing game. While a lot of the attention is going towards his offensive game, his defense was impressive as well.
The Lakers are a bad matchup for the Pels. Zion doesn’t have much of a perimeter game. He makes his living in the paint, overwhelming his opponents with his strength and athleticism inside. Now we all know that LeBron’s defense has fallen off, particularly on the perimeter. But with Zion you don’t have to worry about the perimeter. Lebron just waited for him. LeBron is one of the few players in the league that can match Zions strength inside. And when you have AD behind him, we effectively bottle Zion up and disrupted the Pels entire offense. And a shout out to Rui as well. At times he was on Zion and he also held his own. But then Rui is also extremely strong with a 7’ 2” wing span.
After the Grizzlies debacle I was really worried about our focus, but it was laser sharp, with everyone contributing. If we continue to play defense with this much energy we have a real chance at a run.

unbelievable game from LBJ! Good to see DLO unleash. Now we gotta duplicate Tuesday and hope AD is alright.

Yo! Been reading and sporadically commenting but been real busy these days.
1) Coach can maybe stop experimenting with odd lineups now? That lineup to close the 3rd quarter had never played together, gave up the ghost, and that was that. Not sure what he was hoping to accomplish with yet another 3 guard lineup that hadn’t played ever but the result for me wasn’t a surprise.
2) Hayes has played great! Love his energy and his defense is MUCH improved since he was demoted for a month or so. Dude plays with a really positive energy and just keeps getting better. If it were me I’d have kept one of Hayes or LeBron on the floor at all times. It’s not up to me, sadly…
3) Reaves got some high praise from LeBron but I’m honestly still waiting to see him take that next step. Still regard him as an above average role-player who can backed down in the post. When AD, and increasingly Hayes, is in the game that’s not the issue it was last night. Last night it was an issue.
4) LeBron’s three ball doesn’t just look better, it is better. Fun article on LBJ’s lab work last summer. To the surprise of nobody on the planet he worked on his three port shooting form and the dividends it’s paying off are quite tangible. We’ll need all of it in the coming months.
5) Lost another tiebreaker and, increasingly I think it better we fall all the way to 8th anyhow. 6th would be ideal, and the math says it’s still in play, but the mind says “that ain’t happening”. We need LeBron and AD as right as possible and since we’re all but guaranteed to play at least 1 playin game (and increasingly it looks like 2) the only time they can rest is right now, in-season. Optimal? Nope, but it is what it is.
Bonus point: Coach needs to find a consistent role with Gabe Vincent and 2-3 starters. Do not trot him out there with the whole bench, especially in a 3 guard lineup, and expect it to pay dividends. Put him in a position to succeed, not behind the 8 ball.

I’m not saying that’s what I’d like to see but if Darv doesn’t at least make it to the WCF I’m giving it 50/50 odds he’s canned. If he gets as far as he did, given the injuries thing, I think he’s back. The real issue is no rookie coach is going to reach LeBron, I’m not even sure Coach Bud can, in year 40 The King listens to a court of 1, his body. So all the “Juwan” or “Rondo” talk is, in my opinion, a lark. Sure they were buddies on the floor (and LBJ might even run a play or two of Rajon’s) but ain’t nobody gonna make LeBron not do LeBron.

Howard reportedly turned us down to stay at UM before we hired D.Ham. Folks forget that Bud was well on his way to being fired before they got that ring..then he still got canned a coupla years later. Ime Udoka or Nick Nurse would be ideal but the timing doesn’t work. So we’ll probably end up with some hotshot assistant (just like D.Ham). Just be glad we didn’t make the mistake of bringing in Doc…

Aloha,
Last night was a tough break. Still, somehow we still have a chance. We have one advantage, we only have 3 games left. The 3 teams ahead of us have 4. When you look at the schedules of those teams all 3 have at least 3 tough games left. The Suns have 4. If we win out we pass any of them if they go 2 and 2. The Pels and Kings have injuries. I don’t think it’s a stretch to think that at least one of those teams go 2-2.

if DLO would gave hit his shots. Never caught LBJ illness? Is AD gonna be okay? Was a hard game to watch. Not sure why we don’t give Hayes more plays time?

I thought the guys played great considering they were missing:
LeBron James
Anthony Davis
Christian Wood
Jarred Vanderbilt
Gabe VincentThat’s a pretty good starting lineup the Lakers were missing and they still kept the game close. Rui, Jax, Spencer all played extremely well. Just more reasons for other teams to be afraid of facing Lakers in playoffs.

times can AD get hit in the head with calls? No LBJ and no AD, no chance. Doggone shame.

Aloha,
We won the biggest game of the year yesterday. Today’s game is now the biggest game of the year. Every remaining game will be the biggest. The TWolves on a back to back is probably our biggest remaining challenge.
I think the thing that has been fueling our recent winning ways is defense. It’s been pretty good recently. Yesterday was a good example. Mobley and Struss didn’t hurt us which is a result of good D from LeBron and Rui. And the backcourt D was good as well. Mitchell only scored 10 points. Garland had 26 but on 25 shots which for me is acceptable. Of course having the best defender in the game patrolling the paint goes a long way on that side of the ball. AD’s 6 blocks doesn’t even come close to explaining how dominant he was inside.
Our Transition D has been excellent and the effort that Dlo and Austin have been giving has really helped. Actually Dlo has played harder on defense all year. He has slow feet so he will never be great. But he has made up for it with quick hands and quality defensive reads. Rui has also came a long way defensively over the last couple of months. With our ability to score. having even an average defense can lead to a deep playoff run. It would be great to get Vando back but it would take some time for him to get back to where he was.
The 6th seed is still a possibility but one loss likely ends that. Both the Pels and the Kings are hurt and we possibly could pass both with one loss. But I would prefer not to have to find out.
Let’s win this, biggest game of the year.
