TO COMPETE, LAKERS NEED TO GO ALL-IN!What does 'go all-in' mean to the Lakers? It means being willing to trade all of your trading chips this summer. It means not settling for 2nd, 3rd, or 4th best options for a new starting defensive center, two-way point-of-attack guard,… https://t.co/g3L47DwfsD pic.twitter.com/JvrptJUoLB— LakerTom (@LakerTom) June 22, 2025

If there’s a ‘can’t say no’ trade, sure. I’m not seeing those kind of trades happening given the players and draft picks. Like it or not, Luka was our “All in” trade. Any deal done now that sends out more players than it brings back will create as many holes on the roster as it fixes. Send out 3 players for a center? You’ve likely shipped out our best bench guys or role players. If I anyone really thinks that the Shake Milton, Max Kleber, and any 2 or 3 other contracts you care to add is bringing back a competitive team you truly are fooling yourself.

Lakers' first move under new ownership has become painfully obvious https://t.co/QNeROeORwN— LakerTom (@LakerTom) June 21, 2025

FROM THE ABOVE ARTICLE:
Lakers’ first move under Mark Walter should be to hire Bob Myers
The Los Angeles Lakers will revamp their front office under new owner Mark Walter and bringing on Bob Myers to run things is the obvious choice. Myers spent 11 years in charge of the Golden State Warriors where he won four championships and made six trips to the NBA Finals. He twice won Executive of the Year and has proven he can build a dynasty.
The Lakers sale came as a shock, but fans should be ecstatic. The new ownership group will spare no expense. Walter and his partners own the Dodgers and have spent on every aspect of the team. The Lakers were known for penny-pinching under the Buss family, but that will no longer be the case.
Rob Pelinka is currently in charge of the front office, but that won’t stop Walter from bringing in more voices. Pelinka would have the option to stay on as general manager, but the new boss will beef things up. He got the best top executive in baseball when he bought the Dodgers and is likely to repeat history with his new NBA franchise.
Walter paid $10 billion to buy the team. He clearly has no plans of saving money or trying to get cute. The plan is to win championships. Rob Pelinka built a championship roster in 2020 but quickly tore it down to acquire Russell Westbrook. Bob Myers built a dynasty in the Bay Area, and Walter will have no qualms about making the upgrade.
The Lakers would have to convince Myers to come out of retirement. He currently works as an analyst for ESPN and a consultant for the Washington Commanders in the NFL. Myers left the Warriors in 2023 with Mike Dunleavy Jr. taking over. The Hawks were interested this offseason, but Marc Stein reported Myers turned down the role in part because he wanted to stay in LA with his family. That wouldn’t be an issue if the Lakers come calling.
Myers is a legend for winning four titles with the Warriors but building a Lakers dynasty would put him in the executive GOAT conversation. With the financial backing from Walter and the new ownership group, this could be the perfect storm to build the best organization in the NBA from top to bottom.
Luka Doncic was a massive winner in the sale and things will only improve. The Lakers want to win and will do whatever it takes. Doncic led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals in 2024 just months before the stunning trade. He is already locking in and is ready to lead the Lakers back to glory. Convincing Myers to lead the front office would be another feather in LA’s cap.
The Los Angeles Lakers just sold for $10 billion. Mark Walter will certainly make upgrades with the plan of winning. There is no better person to build their roster than Bob Myers. He is available, but won’t come cheap. The new owner could make a massive splash and set the Lakers up to create another dynasty. It sounds like the perfect plan. Fans just have to wait for it to become reality.

I don’t think our “All In” has enough pieces to snag a true difference-maker. Not alotta those dudes available this summer…often it’s all about the timing. Might be better to make sure the timing lines up to take a serious run at Giannis when he hits free agency 2yrs from now. Maybe even start converting some dudes into draft picks…young & athletic seems to be the name of the game going forward.
