that we need a REAL Center and a REAL PG. LBJ and AR are having a tough time with TO’s. We should
note that whoever has the ball the most usually have the most TO’s. We need a Trae or Da’aron or such (quick) at PG and let LBJ shoot. We seem to bring in guys the Lakers overvalue, Reddish, Vincent, DFS, Vandy (doesn’t play), Wood (doesn’t play), Bronny (who they don’t give a chance to play), Hayes, and Loose Konnection. We have 2 guys that would start, LBJ and AD, for other teams. Perhaps Reaves? That ain’t winning.![Profile Photo]()

Problem with a real starting center is that it moves LBJ to the 3 (unless you want AD coming off the bench). That isn’t going to help the defense at all. I think everyone, mainly AD, needs to come to terms with the fact that, for as long as LeBron is playing, his best position is the starting 4 so he can match up with dudes in his weight and mainly speed class. The switching is killing us on D, can’t hide him that way.
FWIW LeBron for his entire career averages between 3 and 4 TOs/game. That’s not surprising. He’s at 3.8 for this season. Reaves is at 2.5. Fox is at 3.3, Young is at 4.3. So if simply decreasing thew turnovers is the goal you actually have the better point guard from your list.
I think that we’re seeing a few things play out: old choices regarding whom to trade and for what have come back to haunt the Lakers. A lot. The Westbrook deal has one more component to go through (a 2nd rounder to the Wizards which got routed somewhere else, I believe) and this summer will FINALLY be the end of the AD trade. You need young players to compete in this game, we don’t have too many good ones. We whiffed on JHS. Big time.
The empire always crumbles, it doesn’t just vanish and re-appear. We’re seeing the crumbling. The only question in my mind is to what degree does it all fall apart? In order to minimize that there is the hard choice as to trade or keep draft picks. My bet is we keep them unless a home run deal comes our way (pro tip: it won’t, no matter how much the fans pine for one).

Yes, but Trae and Fox got speed that AR and LBJ don’t have. We really don’t have a PG and that puts more wear on LBJ, who IMHO, should be a shooter. You hardly ever see him getting set up for open 3’s. Some of our trade proposals isn’t going to help.

that was a kicker in the pants. To be honest, LBJ need not be a PG and needs to shoot more! AD looks beat up almost every nite. Reaves just cannot be consistent. Hachi had 3 boards. reddish, Konnection, Vincent ? Hayes and DFS not good. Christie had the 3rd best and he was close to worthless on the court. Agian. may not be this year, but gotta have a Center and PG. We have little “D” and zero speed. We only have 2 guys that could be considered scores, AD and LBJ. Ugh.

why couldn’t we go after Fox and Sabonis in a Sac rebuild? We have Christie, Picks, Vincent, plus Konnect. That would be a difference maker. We don’t really need Picks with LBJ and AD gone. We would have quite the $$ flow. Just asking.

The main problem is Sabonis isn’t on the market and Fox probably isn’t either at least this year. Now those two make a combined 75 million which the Lakers would have to match. If you don’t want to trade Lebron or AD you would have to send between 8 and 11 players to match that 75 million. I’m sure that the Kings would not want to cut 6 to 8 players to make room for most of the Lakers roster. Then the Lakers would have to sign 6 to 9 players off the G league or former players that are not good enough to still be in the league. Needless to say it is impossible.

Well first of all the Warriors drafted Curry, Klay and Green. They were all younger and on cheaper contracts when they signed Durant as a free agent. Because of ankle injuries Steph was only making 12 mil. But as those players came up for new contracts their salaries soared and the Warriors had trouble adding more players. The Suns drafted Booker. They sent two real good players in Bridges and Johnson and a 3rd throw in and were able to match Durants salaries. Then they traded Chris Paul for Beal. Chris was making the same as Beal at the time so the salaries matched.

One more thing to think about with Fox. Fox is the primary playmaker for the Kings. He averages 6.2 assists a game. Austin had to share with DLO and LeBron. He averages 5.9 assists a game. Fox averages 3.3 turnovers a game. Austin averages 2.5 a game. Fox shoots 32% from 3. Not very good. Austin shoots 36% decent. Now Fox does average 26ppg to Austin’s 18. But Austin plays with LeBron and AD while Fox is his team number one option. I would not expect Fox to score as much with the Lakers as he does with the Kings. On defense Fox isn’t any better than Austin. He’s not very tall and gets shot over. So personally I wouldn’t give up a ton for what he brings.

and we have LBJ to blame as usual in a game he didn’t even play in. Thought that was going to open up guys, lol! Boy was DLO superb? No? Oh that was that other game. Where was Rui? Vincy and Cam were, uh? I think AD has checked out. Reaves played so so. We are a mess with or without LBJ. Too many TO’s as per usual also. Shooting 3’s was bad as per usual.

I’ve never been this frustrated watching a Lakers game. Seeing the team commit 11 turnovers in the first quarter alone was enough to make me turn off the TV. This is the first time I’ve ever stopped watching a Lakers game halfway through. In fact, I stay up late to catch home games, and I’ve always voiced my dislike for turnovers. It makes watching the Lakers so painful. This isn’t the preseason, and it’s the same team as last year. The fact that they still can’t figure out how to take care of the ball is beyond comprehension. As I mentioned before, my expectations for this team are very low right now.

Outside of the bubble season, I’ve hated watching every year of this self-centered ego maniac force bad decision after bad decision as his skills continue to erode. I’d rather watch a 20-win season with some long term hope than sacrificing the future for another playoff flop.

I think is more about guys like Christie, Cam, Gaber, Woodless, Hayes and all those we were excited about have all but flamed out. Plus LBJ is 40 and we expect him to be 30. AD is not THE GUY. Perhaps we don’t have THE GUY. DLO and Reaves seem to be hot or cold. We need a decent hardnosed Center and an ICETrae-like PG. If we would play LBJ with a rest in between, we’d be better. We have worn him down. No back to back games. JJ, YOU are the COACH!
