I don’t see McGee having a role on the Lakers and expect he will be filler in a trade. If Bradley opts in too, then I think a trade is on the table. Guys having to choose the money or control. Money won for JaVale. Let’s see what Bradley thinks. Not much money out there except for $5.6 TMLE and a few $9.3M NTMLE.
Not surprisingly I feel a bit differently. While he may not have been ideal for some of our 7 game series he was the starting center for all but 2 games on a team that had the best record in the western conference. He can contribute a decent amount, especially on defense as a high level rim protector, for roughly 15-20 mpg. That would give a player like Cousins, AB or even Cacock or Kostas in the right matchups, a decent amount of time to to contribute while not over-burdening them with expectations. Not sure what we’d get back in a trade, even if we included Kuz. Which it increasingly sounds like will be on the roster for at least opening night.
