I've said this a few times, I get why people would disagree, but I really think it makes sense for Indiana to trade Turner/Hield for one Lakers first (with maybe a swap or something else).
I'll thread this just because I'm not sure if I've ever made this argument in one place. https://t.co/YcOTjZTm0u

2. I truly believe one unprotected Lakers pick in 2027/29 has more upside than anything else other teams might offer for Turner. Like, if there were better offers than that for Turner, I think he would've been moved by now. One Laker pick beats two from most other teams imo.

3. Indy could just keep Turner, but that's a risk on multiple fronts. Maybe you lose him for nothing in FA. Maybe his injury issues recur. Maybe his next deal is fair, but the lost cap space hurts elsewhere. The risk-reward ratio of keeping him just seems unfavorable to Indy imo.

5. The Pacers obviously could find other trades for Hield and/or Turner, but at their cap numbers, they're likelier to include some sort of longer-term money. The only real harm of taking on Russ is the cash cost of a buyout. I don't care about any owner's money.

Would work if we were willing to wait to the deadline.
