Excellent video from Raj on what Drummond brings to the Lakers. The more I watch videos and read analyses of Dre’s strengths and weakness, it seems like he will be best offensively positioned at the elbows where he can be used in pick and rolls and dribble handoffs rather than in the dunker spot. That’s actually a good fit for the offensive sets the Lakers like to run. He’s not Gasol when it comes to passing but he’s can hit back door cutters or lobs to LeBron or AD.
The big question is can he play in the Lakers trapping, doubling, and switching defense? We’ve seen Gasol do fairly effectively and Dre is much nimbler and quicker afoot than Marc. He also has quick hands as shown by his 1.6 steals per game. If Frank get can him to work as part of our hedging and trapping defense, it will be a huge plus for the Lakers. That defense with three guys who can protect the rim in Bron, Brow, and Dre would be exactly what the Lakers need to shut down the Nets.
Klutch brother. Always safe from being traded or not re-signed.
