Vogel has ignored the analytics about low post centers all year long so nothing has changed. He’s going to die on the Andre Drummond hill and take the rest of the team with him.
Until Anthony Davis and LeBron James demand change, Frank is going to stick with Drummond like he’s the Lakers’ savior despire the history of AD playing the five last season.
There are reasons for and against trading any of these three:
1. Harrell
For: He’s going to be a free agent and we won’t be able to keep him. He’s also a valuable trading chip.
Against – He’s a center and could only be traded for a center and he’s vitally important to this team.
2. THT
For: He’s the equivalent of a top five draft pick for a team with no picks to trade and he’s not yet shown he can shoot a high percentage from three. He’s an RFa and will likely cost $15 million per year to re-sign plus luxury taxes.
Against: He’s a future All-Star and starter as soon as next year and has incredible upside at both ends of the the court. He’s also very cheap now.
3. Kuzma
For: He’s a valuable trading chip that team’s covet. He’s also going to be expensive next season and he’s not going to start on the Lakers. Likely trading chip this summer when new contract hits.
Against: He’s getting better and does a lot things well, including shooting, cutting, passing, and defending. He’s also impossible to trade unless part of a mega deal because of his poison pill contract.
Not going to happen. Rob will find an impact player or two on the cheap, if he wants.
I do think we will make a trade or two but I don’t think any of these three will be part of any trade. We need centers and Harrell may be our most important center right now. THT is going to be a starter and star. And Kuz is almost impossible to trade unless it’s a mega deal with $20 million in salaries going in and out because of the poison pill in his contract. Now, KCP might be a different situation, especially is he doesn’t start playing better.
