Lakers make career injury request to remove Deng’s salary from books

Sources: The Lakers have requested a career-ending injury application to have Luol Deng’s salary removed from team books. Deng agreed to buyout with Lakers in 2018, retired last October and is owed salary through 2022.

Is Deng on his original 4 yr contract still? Yes, 2019-20 was his last year. Did he play 25 games with another team? No. Will the NBA agree with the Lakers' medical evaluation? TBD

Likely to see several different interpretations of the CBA language. What matters is the league's interpretation, in relation to their agreement medically with Lakers contention. Need similar interpretation and agreement on the claim. I wouldn't say I expect it to be granted, TBD
