The Lakers have until Dec 21st to come to get an extension done with Kyle Kuzma. Really curious to see how they play this. KCP's deal suggests they aren't hell-bent on preserving cap space for 2021, and like Harrell & Schroder, he's a fit age-wise for Davis' prime

Michael H from Hawaii brought up the subject of why the Lakers might be smart to extend Kuzma and I agree with him. Since the extension would not start until next season, we can do it despite being hard capped.
What it would do is guarantee we would not lost Kuz for nothing as a free agent next year and giving him $12 million per year for 3 years would turn him into an asset that could be traded for equal value or aggregated with other players to trade for a star.
$12 to $15 million could turn into a bargain contract if he fixes his shot. I think Lakers should do it. The pandemic has reduced the power to land a star via free agency. Trades and S&T’s are quickly becoming the better method. And extending him now is something we couldn’t do next year if we became hard capped again.
