I wouldn’t be opposed to it depending on what we had to send back in return. He’s on the wrong side of 30 and making $21mill. Hopefully we have better options available to pair in the backcourt with Luka.
Kleber and a Team Optioned Goodwin is about all I’d do and even that feels like an overpay. Not sure why he wouldn’t be waived near the deadline next season, he’s an expiring contract so the Wiz can see if they need a vet for an improbable playoff run or cut bait and let him find a playoff team to hop onto next Feb. Not a reason in the world to give up what we have (which ain’t much) for a guy who hasn’t been able to stay on the floor for the last 3 years.
Marcus is not an offensive threat….and the Lakers still have Vanderbilt as a zero offense player, and the hole at the center position. I’d much rather see Rui continue to pick up his offensive and defensive game. I havent run it thru the trade machine but I’d be fine with Vanderbilt and Vincent for Smart (no draft picks favoring the Whizzers’, formerly the Baltimore Bullets (bang bang)…
I didnt realize Smart was that bucket rusty…54 games in past 2 years….Vanderbilt 65 games past 2 years, Vincent 83 games/2 years (but felt like 33)…I am just looking for any reason to get rid of Vanderbilt and the remainder of that premature contract, which has 3 more years to run (I felt that contract was premature and he was/is overpaid)…..I was hoping Vincent would distract the Wizards/Bullets, I would do the trade to get rid of Vanderbilt’s contract.!!!!!!! … Interesting fact….The Wizards won their last championship more recently than the New York Knicks. Wizards (as the Bullets) 1978, Knicks 1973….I was pondering that as the Knicks did make it to the Eastern Conference finals, and how boring it would be for most of the old diehard fans with 2 new to the prom finalists…..
If this was Smart from 4 seasons ago sign me up. Since being traded he’s fallen off a cliff and I wouldn’t trade anyone for him, I’d wait until he was waived and pick him up then.
Let’s stay focused and not get sidetracked—there’s a reason Marcus is past his prime. His situation reminds me of Trevor Arista. How did that go?
We’re building for the future, and it’s time to invest in rising talent, not revisit the past!

Two guys who can play for one guy who has played 54 games in 2 years due to a variety of leg injuries? Hard pass for me.
