It’s honestly really hard to gauge this trade because we haven’t seen John Wall on a professional basketball court in 2 years. So, from that point of view, I would say the Wizards won the trade going away. They got the healthier player. Having said that, Wall and Harden are kind of a stellar fit if John is anything back to his old self (no guarantee given the injuries he’s sustained on that one).
Russ and Beal will be as good of a fit as Russ and James were, not perfect but totally workable. Wall isn’t an elite three point shooter so he’s not going to open up the floor for James to attack but will benefit from sharing the floor with Harden as it may help his game. If Houston sinks early the pressure to trade Harden, and possibly even John Wall, will escalate. Not sure how many expiring contracts they can dredge up to make that a viable rebuild option…lotta cash that may end up having to be moved.

I don’t see the Rockets trading Harden until closer to the Trade Deadline if the team is not performing well or if James is continuously not pleased with the direction of the organization.

Read MoreIt’s the second part of our look back at the 2019-2020 Lakers season as the new year begins, and along with it, the team’s outlook starts to take shape atop of the Western Conference. But things for the Lakers, and the world, would soon take a turn for the worse with the tragic death of Kobe and Gigi Bryant. And despite back-to-back wins against the NBA’s elite, the arrival shortly after of the Coronavirus, and the tragic deaths of George Floyd and other Black Americans at the hands of police. This would lead to protests against racial injustice and systemic racism that stretched worldwide with the Black Lives Matter movement and full NBA player support of that cause. The combination of these two society-altering events would put the NBA season in peril. We remember these moments from our interviews with Tom Wong from lakerholics.com (full episodes at https://bit.ly/36uHIjW, https://bit.ly/2JrMQwx, https://bit.ly/3g2fXm6, https://bit.ly/33BaxJy, https://bit.ly/3olYnfP ), TJ Johnson from Pop Culture Cosmos(https://bit.ly/3fVD41y, ) and Rafael Barlowe of NBA Draft Junkies (https://bit.ly/37tQjma). Thanks Jamie. This was very emotional for me to revisit and while choosing footage for much of this episode, one couldn’t help but revisit those strong feelings conveyed within those conversations. It was a very tough episode to produce but a necessary part of the Lakers 2019-2020 season story. Also feel it’s one of best I have ever done.

Too far down. Let’s wait until it becomes more of a possibility

LOL. Apologies to Gerald. Sean and I knew he was trying to end the podcast so he could do another with somebody else so we went down the Giannis rabbit hole and completely frustrated him. Fun podcast, especially if you’re interested in the Lakers new additions and how we could end up with Giannis.

Next 3 Wins Could Put Nuggets & Rockets in Lakers’ Rearview Mirror
Starting as the #6 seed, the Los Angeles Lakers have won 4 straight games in a row and 7 of their last 8 to leapfrog the #5 Denver Nuggets and #4 Houston Rockets and take over the #3 seed in the West by a half game.

5 Things: Finding Some Grit
65 games in and the team is starting to look a little sterner, little grittier. One of the ugliest first halves I’ve seen since the 90’s man. The win was one of the more impressive of the season, in my opinion. 1) Luka finding solace on the court. Sounds like his personal life has been […]

i thought this was a great podcast other than Sean getting sick. Gerald and I had some great discussions about the Lakers extending LeBron and AD, Kyle Kuzma’s future with the Lakers, and how Harrell and Gasol will change the center position.
