Another good example of where THT's length can functionally make up ground or close the gap of an initial advantage created.
A really nice behind the back dribble move by Murray to split the defense but THT is able to poke the ball away from behind & create a transition chance. pic.twitter.com/lkS2L7oE8Q

THT is the perfect guard to pair with speedster Dennis Schroder in next year’s starting Lakers backcourt, especially in a scrambling and swarming attack dog team defense that traps and doubles opposing teams’ offenses to create chaos and confusion.
Rob Pelinka has done an excellent job adding talent to the Lakers this offseason that fit this kind of aggressive team defense. Schroder and THT are perfect examples. I also think Trezz has great potential to shine defensively in this scheme, where no player is left on an island and always can count on help. Team defense > Individual defense
So if we assume THT must start, does KCP accept the demotion, or does he want out? I’d prefer he stays, but it would be interesting to know if they discussed this possibility when they re-signed him. Frank says PT is earned, but we know of at least 2 guys to whom that doesn’t apply.
I think Kenny would accept not starting but I also think he could be traded. He’s an excellent player in his prime on a good contract. Same with Kuzma and hopefully Schroden once he’s extended. There’s value, especially to teams that have a problem attracting free agents, to trading for starter quality great role players under contract. I think that’s a big part of why we’re starting to stock up on trading chips. It’s all part of a plan.
