It’s a good example. The thing that’s jumped out at me as I tried various hard cap and no hard cap scenarios is that the luxury cap puts a hold on spending almost as much as the hard cap. You quickly reach a point where every move you make cost way too much. Comes down to whether the player you want is a free agent or not for the Lakers. I’m still betting the Lakers will hard cap but it will depend on whom they ultimately pursue and how much tax they might be willing to pay. Historically, $10M is about the max in the past. Not going to pay $50 to $100 million like Nets and Dubs.
Someday I hope to understand how it makes sense to have 140M for payroll, blow 90% on 3 guys, and then need 10 CPA’s to figure out the rest. So it will be fair for everybody.
