This is an interesting Bobby Marks trade.
Lakers give up 2031 pick and Dalton Knecht
But get starting center and No. 36 pick.
Brooklyn Move Down to No. 11 from No. 8
But picks up Lakers 2031 first round pick.
Trailblazers give up 2027 first round pick but get Dalton Knecht.
I saw this trade as well in some media repeat/repeat/repeat of a proposal…I do respect Bobbie Marks, but I reiterate that trade proposals are like “Fantasy sports”….Khaman Maluach does look like an interesting prospect…..but to proclaim him as “starting center” material right away is a bit premature. He doesn’t turn 19 til September…..Brooklyn may be interested in doing it if they have their eyes on someone in the past #11 range, which is just 2 picks lower than the one they are giving up, and they would get the 2031 Lakers first round pick, which is quite down the road. To do a move from #8 to #11 is either counting on things playing out exactly as planned, or not having a plan to begin with. Portland would get Knecht, but be giving up the #11 pick this draft….I presume this is a “weak” draft year, every year is compared to 1996, and besides the 2027 top 4 protected NY pick, which likely will not happen, the would be getting Knecht who they see as a better prospect than what they could get in the draft. I thought his trade value dropped after he returned to the Lakers and sat on the bench. So I don’t see Portland doing the trade. Fantasy Trade Proposal….this one does not work out in my opinion.
