It’s just stat tweaking, and in these days of analytics….I’m opposed to it, if a heave goes in the heaver gets credit (positive reaction)….so if it doesn’t go in then there should be an equal loss of credit (negative reaction)…dang, like Newton’s Third Law of Motion. Another situation that can be thought about is whether a player should take an unneeded shot at the end of a game when the game is decided. Some don’t want to because they don’t want to show up the other team (which I don’t believe in, teams should play to the end), or because they don’t want to risk their shooting percentage….my solution for that is for a player to tell a player “I don’t want to shoot, I don’t want a turnover….so put your hands on the ball and let the refs call a Jump ball”…sounds stupid, of course it would take some negotiation and explanation between some players but in theory, it would work….”No, a jump ball is not considered a turnover in the NBA; it is a method to determine possession of the ball between two opposing players. The team that wins the jump ball gains possession, while the team that loses it does not incur a turnover” (Wikipedia/Hoops Tactics)…. sorry, slow news day…..
