As I said on the podcast, there has to be more to story of why the Lakers did not bring back Dwight Howard because on the surface it seems obvious the Lakers defense would be better with Dwight on the roster as the third center and fifteenth player.
Did the Lakers overreact to Howard, like McGee, becoming unplayable during the playoffs? Or were they worried that Dwight might not continue to be the positive chemistry piece he was last year.
Initially, they seemed to be committed to signing a stretch five like Gasol or Ibaka to go with Harrell at center. Now with Gasol struggling defensively, new questions have raised. As for Doc’s comments, I think he’s just supporting his player but the reality is the Lakers dumped Howard so there may be more to the story than we know right now.
Would you trade Harrell for Howard? No. Gasol for McGee? No. Nothing to see here…move on.
Who says?
