AD Likely to Sign a 2+1 contract to align with LeBron
LeBron's contract extension feels like a prelude to Anthony Davis signing a 2+1 deal with the Lakers that lines up their contracts and makes sure Davis gets paid more (35% of cap) he gets to 10 years of service.
It also keeps the Lakers in title contention though 2023

This. LeBron was going into an option year & historically has used that to exert tons of leverage. But he just won a championship, lives where he wants to live & has a superstar teammate to keep chasing rings with. Rob Pelinka & Co. score a rare kind of commitment from LeBron. https://t.co/CtSdgSPAQT

New story: LeBron James re-upped with the Lakers on Wednesday with a deal that will take him through his 20th season and on the brink of his 40s https://t.co/zbBco9AU9H

LeBron is lining up that contract so he can be a free agent and end his career with whoever drafts Bronny isnt he. The amount of tanking + tampering about to go down in 2023 will never be topped. No doubt in my mind Rich Paul will run out of the tunnel as a special guest referee.

Lakers have history of rewarding players like LeBron with big contracts
The Lakers have a history of rewarding players like LeBron with big contracts so they can finish their Hall of Fame careers with the franchise. They did virtually the same thing with Kobe, when he was entering his age 36 season. https://t.co/mCbBNM1mtw

That contract was criticized at the time and afterwards. But I’ll always remember the way it was explained: Rewarding Hall of Famers is part of the Lakers brand. It gets noticed by other Hall of Fame caliber players …

The Lakers extended Kobe and I said back then it served as a beacon to other superstars and eventually, LeBron showed up. The Lakers are doing the exact same thing with LeBron's extension. Sending a message to the NBA elite.
