I think seeding does indeed matter. Bubble playoffs won’t happen this season, at least I don’t think so. If they’re taking the step to go ahead and play the ASG the bottom line is looming large in the minds of the teams and the League. They will let at least some people into the venues for the PO’s and depending on how the vacc roll out goes, admittedly mediocre at this point. If that’s the case you need to at least consider that seeding will have an impact.
I don’t think seeding matters unless we see fans back in the arenas. What does matter is playing well and beating the teams you’re going to face in the playoffs. That’s an edge that can make a huge difference. This is not MLB where hot pitching can change everything, although sometimes hot shooting can do the same. Give me a Lakers team hitting on all cylinders going into the playoffs and I don’t care what seed we are or whom we’re playing.
