For me Ayton even with his flaws is better than any of the free agent targets tied to the Lakers. He’s a 20 mil center that we are paying 8 for. He’s was at his best when playing with great play makers like CP3. He didn’t have any in Portland. Now he has 3. It would be great if he blocked more shots. But at 250 pounds he clogs the paint and he isn’t easily moved. You don’t necessarily have to blocks if you are a physical deterrent at the rim and he does that. I think he will have a really good year because he understands that he has to.
Agreed. A lot of upside here. I didn’t follow him in Portland but he’s hardly the first to dislike losing. Of course he could have handled it better, but he chose the Lakers, so there’s that. If he works out, he’s a more than suitable replacement for AD.
He got that contract from Phoenix, going into 2022 season, and that was before Phoenix took on Bradley Beal, who signed his contract with the Wizards/”Bullets”…in 2022 before that season, was moved to the Suns the following summer….
Easy for teams to have buyers remorse when the money is so stupid. I think it’s hilarious the way they throw all of it around and then have penalties for those who go a little too far.
I was listening to NBA radio on Sirius and the chatter was on a signing of around $100M/4 years…then i heard it was Poetl…..in some areas of life, size matters….and I understand the CBA and players getting around 50%….but I don’t agree with some things that come about…like minimum salaries….

“Unless it’s like hard, requires effort, or I just don’t feel like it” – there finished it for you.
Even with a half-ass effort, he was better than any other the other free agent targets.
I just can’t get my hopes up about a guy two teams couldn’t wait to get rid of.
The problem was he wasn’t worth his 35 mil price tag. t this price point he is a steal.

I don’t recall who brought it up as it being a contract year but that’s always a source of motivation.
