    LAKERS AWARD BIAS IS REAL!

      • LAKERS AWARD BIAS ISN’T JUST REAL — IT’S ON FULL DISPLAY THIS SEASON.

        Let’s lay it out plainly:

        – Projected win total: 46.5
        – ESPN’s own model: 36 wins
        – Actual record: 48–26… and climbing
        – Top‑5 record in the entire NBA
        – JJ Redick: not even top 9 in Coach of the Year odds
        – Luka Doncic: 34/8/8 and somehow 4th in MVP race

If this isn’t bias, what is?

JJ Redick walked into a situation everyone said was doomed. “The Big 3 can’t fit.” “They’ll be a play‑in team.” “The roster doesn’t make sense.” Every talking head had their punchline ready.

And yet here we are — the Lakers are not just winning, they’re thriving. They’re disciplined, connected, defending, sharing the ball, and playing with a belief that wasn’t there a few months ago. That doesn’t happen by accident. That’s coaching. That’s leadership. That’s culture.

JJ didn’t inherit a perfect roster — he built a system. He empowered role players. He unlocked Luka and LeBron together. He stabilized the rotation. He turned noise into fuel. And now the Lakers might finish with 55 wins, something not a single national outlet predicted.

But somehow… he’s not a Coach of the Year frontrunner?

        Come on.

And Luka — what more does the man have to do? He’s putting up video‑game numbers while carrying the emotional and strategic load of a franchise that completely reinvented itself midseason. Remove him from this team and the Lakers aren’t sniffing the top 5. That’s the definition of value.

So let’s be honest, basketball fans — not biased, not narrative‑driven, not agenda‑pushed. Just honest.

Who has been more valuable to their team than Luka Doncic this season?
Who has done more with less preseason respect than JJ Redick?
Who has flipped a franchise’s trajectory more dramatically than this Lakers group?

The answer is obvious to anyone actually watching the games.

The Lakers didn’t just exceed expectations — they obliterated them.
And the people responsible deserve recognition, not excuses.

This season is proving something powerful:
When the Lakers are great, the bar gets moved.
When others are great, the bar gets lowered.

        But greatness speaks for itself.
And right now, the Lakers are speaking loudly.

JAXSON HAYES SUDDENLY BECOMING RIM PROTECTOR!

    • FROM ABOVE ARTICLE:

Suddenly, the Lakers can trust the center position to produce quality nightly results.

The Los Angeles Lakers spent the better part of the 2025-26 season struggling to create stability at the center position. Starter Deandre Ayton provided offensive value but struggled on defense, and Jaxson Hayes offered contributions that fluctuated in their quality.

With Ayton publicly committing to sacrificing for the team and accepting his role, and Hayes becoming a consistent source of two-way quality, however, the Lakers are evolving.

Hayes has been a breath of fresh air for the Lakers over the past month, taking his game to another level on both ends of the floor. He played just 17.4 minutes per game between his first 41 appearances, averaging 6.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.4 offensive rebounds, and 0.6 blocks.

Hayes is playing 19.5 minutes per game over his past 21 appearances, however, increasing his averages to 8.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 offensive rebounds, and 1.1 blocks.

Those may not seem like drastic increases on the surface, but to make jumps across the board in just 2.1 extra minutes is a fair reflection of what the film has revealed. Hayes has become more assertive on offense, more aggressive on defense, and has even averaged more than 20 minutes per game over the past 12 outings.

The past five games have revealed just how capable Hayes truly is of not only improving his output, but helping to stabilize the center position.

Center is suddenly a strength as Jaxson Hayes steps up for Lakers

Hayes began his recent stretch of success with six points, five rebounds, three offensive boards, and two blocks in a win over the Miami Heat. He followed that showing with eight points, seven rebounds, two offensive boards, and three blocks against the Orlando Magic.

Hayes then tallied 11 points, three rebounds, two offensive boards, one assist, four blocks, and two steals against All-Star big Jalen Duren and the Detroit Pistons.

That was enough for Lakers fans to see signs of progress that created an inevitable surge in optimism. What Hayes did next, however, blew everyone’s minds. He dropped 21 points, 10 rebounds, two offensive rebounds, one assist, two blocks, and two steals in a rare start against the Indiana Pacers. It was far above his typical level of play or production.

The next time out, Hayes proved it wasn’t a fluke with 10 points, eight rebounds, two offensive rebounds, one assist, and five blocks.

Lakers suddenly have depth at a position that was once uncertain

Though it’s important to look past stats, the Lakers have struggled to generate any kind of consistent production from the second unit in 2025-26. To now have a source of it at a position that was once perceived as a weakness has completely redefined their outlook.

That’s translated to the fact that the Lakers have a team-best net rating of +11.3 when Hayes is on the court since Feb. 1.

With Hayes stepping up as the backup and Ayton embracing the need for playing with more energy and intensity, Los Angeles has taken a clear step forward. It’s won 14 of its past 16 games and can attribute at least some degree of its success to its newfound stability at center.

Only time will tell if Ayton and Hayes can translate their success to the playoffs, but if they can, the Lakers will be able to legitimately compete for a championship.

      • FROM ABOVE ARTICLE:

Jaxson Hayes is making the Lakers look genius.

The Los Angeles Lakers are watching Jaxson Hayes become the ideal big man to pair with Luka Doncic, and it cost the franchise nothing to acquire him because he was already on their roster. Number 77 wanted a rim protector and a lob threat from the moment he arrived in LA. The Lakers tried to trade for Mark Williams, but a failed physical nixed the deal. Fans have questioned Ayton’s fit all season, but Hayes is becoming the ideal partner.

The Lakers have won 14 of their last 16 games and look like a serious title threat. Luka is playing like the MVP, and Hayes is having his own mini breakout during that stretch. The seven-footer averaged 8.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 20.6 minutes per game. He has given head coach JJ Redick an option if Ayton is struggling, and fans know Hayes will finish everything Doncic and the Lakers lob up.

Hayes is becoming a trusted option at the five. He has blocked a shot in six straight games and is shooting 75 percent from the field over that stretch. The Lakers nearly gave up two first-round draft picks for Mark Williams when a strong option was already on their bench, just awaiting his opportunity.

Lakers look genius as Jaxson Hayes quietly becomes Luka Doncic’s ideal partner

Hayes came to Los Angeles in 2023 and has made just over $8 million total in three seasons. The former eighth overall draft pick flamed out in New Orleans and got a fresh start with the Lakers. Nobody knew he would be catching lobs from Luka and trying to play for the Slovenian National Team. The Lakers wanted a backup big with potential, and Hayes is finally fully realizing it.

Fans know Luka is at his best with a true center on the floor. He had Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford during the Mavericks’ NBA Finals run in 2024. Ayton is slowly buying into his role, but he still struggles to consistently attack the rim. Hayes doesn’t have that problem.

Between Ayton and Hayes, the Lakers are getting 48 minutes of quality play at the five. They must keep it up throughout the playoffs if LA wants to make a deep run. Coach Redick has the defense locked in and should be trying to maximize the production of his three stars as the postseason approaches. Everybody has to work together, and Hayes is quickly become an X-factor.

Fans may point to Hayes’ lack of rebounds as a concern, but the Lakers have Luka, LeBron, and Austin Reaves to gobble up boards. The Lakers are picking up the slack for the big man’s weakness, which is a welcome sight.

The Los Angeles Lakers have the perfect big man to pair with Luka Doncic on their roster. Jaxson Hayes has been fantastic and keeps getting better. The Lakers look smart for the rescinded Mark Williams trade and not panicking. Hayes is making that faith pay off, and fans will have to stay tuned to see what’s next from the 25-year-old big man.

    • Not the sharpest tool in the toolbox.

      • That was a chicken shit call by the ref. Should not have been a foul but the Lakers don’t need Luka to beat Wizards and this would give him a needed game off plus it will now take 2 fouls to cost him another game suspension. Smart move to accept technical now.

It took (too) long, but they got the job done.

After a long road trip, the Lakers returned home and beat the Brooklyn Nets 116–99.

If you only look at the box score, this looks like a convincing blowout, but it certainly wasn’t. It took some late fourth-quarter Austin Reaves magic, coupled with the tanking Nets very conveniently keeping their starters on the bench, for the Lakers to finally pull away and put away a game that dragged on for far too long.

Eventually, the Lakers got the win, their 48th of the season and 14th in their last 16 games, reaching their preseason projection with eight games still remaining.

There’s more good news: they will now get two days of rest, something that hasn’t happened since the All-Star break, to recharge before their final two games in a difficult and packed March schedule.

      Today’s notes:

      Lakers (still) in the mud

Luka scores at will and keeps breaking records (🎞️VIDEO)

      1-Lakers (still) in the mud

The Lakers played this one at home in Crypto.com Arena, but their minds, and more importantly their legs, still looked like they were on the road. JJ Redick said postgame he told his players that because of the travel and changing time zones, this was basically their seventh road game, and after a sluggish first half summed it up simply: “we’re stuck in the mud.”

      Lakers Daily
      @LakersDailyCom
JJ Redick: “Every team that plays us, regardless of their record, they’re trying to beat us. … It’s the Lakers, that’s what we’re gonna face. It looks like we’re stuck in mud.”

For a third straight game, the Lakers looked tired and a step slow, whether it was getting to loose balls, 50-50 balls that mostly went the Nets’ way, or trying to contain the drive. The latter, like against Detroit, was a big problem and was where Marcus Smart was sorely missed again.

Nic Claxton, Zaire Williams, and Josh Minott were too aggressive and too athletic to keep off the glass and away from the rim, while Nolan Traore and Ben Saraf were simply too quick to stay in front of them on their downhill attacks. Like the Pacers, the young Nets found an extra boost of motivation playing against the team in purple and gold, as the worst offense in the NBA, playing without their only prolific scorer, still put up 59 points in the first half.

2-Jaxson Hayes swings another game with energy (🎞️VIDEO)

The Lakers desperately needed an energy boost and someone to cover for their continuous perimeter breakdowns, and for the second straight game, Jaxson Hayes came to the rescue.

After missing the previous game with back soreness, Deandre Ayton returned and did a solid job protecting the rim, collecting all three of his blocks in the first half. But Hayes stepped up big time, recording all five of his rejections in the second half, three of them coming late in the third quarter when the Lakers looked like they might get in trouble.

Hayes played 17 straight minutes in the second half, including the entire fourth quarter, and made a huge difference as the backline corrector who sparked the Lakers’ clinching run.

3-Luka scores at will and keeps breaking records(🎞️VIDEO)

Dončić, who was listed as questionable with left hamstring soreness, was one of the Lakers who looked a step slow and lacking juice on the defensive end early, but the 27-year-old is in such a groove right now that he can still put up a super-efficient 40 while playing in second gear.

His 41 points, along with eight rebounds and three steals, were just the latest in a string of ridiculous stat lines. It was his 12th straight 30-point game and his sixth 40-point game in that span.

Source: Iztok Franko post on X

Dončić also became the first player in Lakers franchise history to total 2,000+ points, 500+ assists, and 100+ steals in a season, one of many records he has either set or matched this year. Luka continues his end-of-season MVP push, but with the bar so high this season, he’ll likely need to extend his godly March into April all the way to the final game. And even that still might not be enough given the current MVP narratives.

4-Austin Reaves takes over in the fourth (🎞️VIDEO)

Reaves had a relatively quiet first three quarters, taking just eight shots and scoring 11 points while missing all three of his three-point attempts. Redick mentioned postgame a weird stretch with no dead balls and no chances to make substitutions at the end of the first quarter, which disrupted the rotation, including Reaves missing the start of the second period, when he usually runs the offense as the primary ballhandler.

The Lakers struggled with both Dončić and Reaves off the floor in the first half, but the rotation was restored in the second, and Reaves got his chance as the head honcho to open the fourth. Reaves made his first three on an open look out of a Horns Flare set, and after seeing it go down, hit his next three from behind the arc.

Reaves scored 15 of his 26 points in the fourth, delivering the late punch the Lakers needed to put the Nets away. Dončić chimed in with a charge, his 14th of the season, and a final stepback with a minute and a half to go.

      5-Luka’s 16th tech, crankiness, and a much-needed break ahead (🎞️VIDEO)

I already mentioned the Lakers struggling with the energy and physicality of Nic Claxton and Ziaire Williams. The Nets, per Redick, were another team that took on the game plan perfected by the Thunder and Pistons, fouling on every possession. The Lakers got 42 free throws, but missing 13 of them was one of the reasons the game stayed close for too long, and a tired, cranky group grew increasingly annoyed with the in-your-face Nets.

After one of the close encounters with Claxton and Williams, Dončić got into it with a Nets forward, earning a double technical. It was his 16th of the season, after his previous one from a trash-talking duel with Goga Bitadze had been rescinded.

I’m sure the Lakers will appeal this one as well, trying to prevent Dončić from missing the next game against the Wizards due to a suspension. However, getting an extra day of rest for the league’s leading scorer, who has averaged 39 minutes per game over the last eight games, might not be a terrible outcome either.

      Source: NBA official website

The Lakers will have two days of rest before facing the Wizards, but then play a very important game against the Cavaliers the following night on a back-to-back. A suspension would give Dončić essentially three full days of rest, which feels like a godsend after a brutal March in which he has already played 15 games and logged 560 minutes and 558 points. Reaves, who has played 40 minutes in this and several other recent games, is another player who will welcome this mini two-day break to rest and recover.

      • Last night felt like a three‑act play: Luka set the tone early, Reaves stole the spotlight in the fourth, and LeBron filled in the gaps with that steady brilliance only he can provide. It almost unfolded like it was scripted.

JAXSON HAYES HAS AVERAGED 2.4 BPG IN LAST 5 GAMES!

    • Jaxson Hayes has quietly become one of the Lakers’ most reliable tone‑setters, and the numbers back it up. Averaging 2.4 blocks per game over the last five contests isn’t just a hot streak — it’s a statement. He’s anchoring the paint, erasing mistakes, and giving the Lakers a defensive backbone exactly when they need it most.

What makes Hayes so valuable is that he never tries to be anything other than what the team needs. He runs the floor, protects the rim, finishes everything around the basket, and brings an energy that lifts the entire second unit. He’s not hunting stats, he’s not forcing touches — he’s playing winning basketball. And that consistency is gold on a roster full of stars and evolving roles.

Every contender needs a guy who embraces the dirty work, who brings effort every night, who doesn’t need headlines to stay locked in. Hayes has been that guy. While others get the spotlight, he’s been the one quietly tilting games with hustle, timing, and pure effort.

If you’ve been watching closely, you know:
Jaxson Hayes has been one of the Lakers’ most dependable role players all season — and his impact is only growing.

      The man deserves his flowers.

      • Great post, Buba. I’ve been watching Jaxson the past 5 games and he is challenging shots at the rim and blocking an amazing number of shots like we’ve never seen him do before. Jax will be returning with a raise and if he keeps it up, could be vying for a starting role next season. This is a personal breakout that nobody expected.

Jax was already becoming the league’s best lob threat and if he can add rim protection to his resume, wow. It’s also interesting to note that Jax also wants to add 3-point shots from top of the key to his repertoire. He still needs to add some muscle to hold position but he’s looking like a keeper for this Lakers team.

    • Re: “This is a personal breakout that nobody expected.”
