LAKERS CAN STILL PUT A CONTENDER TOGETHER! Even without spending their first round pick and keeping their cap space open for a max free agent, the Lakers can still improve enough at the margins to be a competitive team if Luka and LeBron can stay healthy. The key is staying… pic.twitter.com/s2tUoWHtdW— LakerTom (@LakerTom) June 29, 2025

There is no way to build a solid team using the Non tax payer MLE. But if we could add Sharpe who also can play the 4, Capella and Bruce Brown. That would not be a bad deal. To make it work we would need to cut Milton. He is non guaranteed. Of course Adou would need to have a very good rookie year but it would make sense. And Vando would need to find a little offense. And Goodwin and Bronny would need to grow, but that needs to happen anyway for us to have a chance.

TRADING FOR LEBRON IS HOW CAVS REBOUNDDefinitely need that third team to absorb salaries to get under the second apron but there are only a couple of teams with the cap space. If Lakers cannot fix roster enough to compete for a ring this season, trading LeBron might become a… https://t.co/NwVvhnMnhN pic.twitter.com/sH7jee6FkP— LakerTom (@LakerTom) June 29, 2025

I often get insider info to NBA transactions. Let me be clear: I don’t have any lead on this. But LeBron to Warriors makes a ton of sense if he wants out of LA for a win now situation. 2 of 4 Kuminga, Butler, Podz and Moody going the other way plus a future first round pick.…— Ronnie 2K 2K25 (@Ronnie2K) June 29, 2025

👀 After trading Collin Sexton and adding Jusuf Nurkić, could the Jazz be ready to move on from Walker Kessler? 👋If so, the Lakers should be all over that. Perfect fit next to Luka. 🟣🟡 #LakeShow #NBA #Lakers #Jazz #WalkerKessler pic.twitter.com/yMF2F3FhzI— LALSource (@LALSource) June 29, 2025

I’m not expecting LeBron to request a trade or be on the move, but these comments are eye-opening.If there was to be a LeBron trade by some slim chance… Why not the Mavericks?Via @BrettSiegelNBA Could you see LeBron asking out to go to the Mavs? 🤔🤔 pic.twitter.com/5xIWnQPixp— Playoff LAL (@PlayoffLAL) June 29, 2025

LAKERS ARE NOW LUKA DONCIC'S TEAMThe problem is the years. They could pull a Rockets and give him more on a 1-year deal to stay. Problem is if they are looking to sign a max player next summer, DFS knows there won't be money left for him. Tough situation for DFS if Lakers… pic.twitter.com/gs1DUbfMVC— LakerTom (@LakerTom) June 29, 2025

I think what the Lakers want is cap space to sign a max free agent this summer to replace LeBron. Their moves will all be designed to maximize their cap space next summer. |
They’ll try to pull of moves for centers and wings but without giving up draft capital. They want that also next summer. We’re now on the Luka timetable, not the LeBron timetable.
we’ve already seen the positioning of expectations that we’re going with a short term solution at center this summer. They’re keeping the pick and making what I think is the right decision to prioritize building around Luka, which means keeping the picks.
And LeBron and Klutch also realize it. The new owner makes it completely clear. This will be LeBron’s last year in purple and gold but it might not be his last year in the NBA.
This is good for everybody. The time is now right.

There are a lot of good free agents available next year but the only one that’s not restricted that I would give a max deal to is JJJ but you could surround Luka with some pretty good player.

Like…the dude has a mercenary streak in him dating to The Decision. He’s always done what’s best for his career and it’s hard to argue with the results. Having said that, a max contract spot isn’t the worst outcome by a long shot. With that much room we can absorb a player into cap space, sign multiple players, or shoot for another Star.

Even though he will be 41-years-old in December, any team that’s in a one or two-year title window should be calling the Lakers immediately inquiring about LeBron James. Now with Luka Doncic as their face of the franchise, a LeBron trade might be LA’s best long-term play here. pic.twitter.com/De0u8Ncb4d— Evan Sidery (@esidery) June 29, 2025

It's this simple to me:If your goal is to win the 2026 championship then you want to keep LeBron James. If your goal is to build a sustainable winner around Luka Doncic it makes all the sense in the world to trade LeBron to Cleveland. No two timelines. Pick one and go for it. https://t.co/Ie0OXxKoV3— Sam Quinn (@SamQuinnCBS) June 29, 2025
