LEAGUE SHOULD DROP HAMMER ON CLIPPERS!STRIP NEXT 5 PICKS, BAN KAWHI FOR 2 YRS, GM & AGENT FOR 5 YRS, AND STEVE BALMER FOR LIFE!I don't care whether this hurts the league's upcoming television negotiations or how many teams might have also been guilty and could be included,… https://t.co/nLHaOeg72C— LakerTom (@LakerTom) September 3, 2025
Kawhi Leonard should be banned for life, and fined the full amount of the contract money he earned from the Clippers, in addition to the money that was slush funded to him. GM and agent, lifetime ban. Ballmer should lose ownership of the team, and just relocate them to Las Vegas. They never should have been allowed to relocate to Los Angeles, share arena, etc. The nearest they should have been allowed should have been to Orange County, Anaheim….which built an arena….or Irvine which never did but was mentioned decades ago.
Okay NBA, Lakers would like to do a Trade for Giannis and we pay him $60 Mil with Half of that an endorsement deal with the Buss Foundation?
That would look better if the Buss family (Jeannie) sold out whatever part of the Lakers she still owns after the sale to Walters. Then it would not be so obvious and would “slide by the NBA scrutiny”…(ask Ballmer…the loud mouthed windbag that loves toilets)….
Greed and stupidity make fine bedfellows. Sure, they could boot Ballmer, but there are plenty more like him on the waiting list. I’d love to see him have to forfeit the Clipperdome.
I think he owns the Intuit Dome on his own. It’s the ownership of the Clipper franchise which should be ripped outta his pudgy fat red hands…..(likely there will be a lengthy investigation and he will be cleared of charges….I hope the IRS goes through him thoroughly….maybe they’ll install bidets in the Intuit Dome…..
That’s an interesting statement by the Clippers thru Charania…..let’s see if it holds water going thru the legal system. Just because Ballmer/Clippers may have no knowledge of payofff for nothing to Kahwi doesnt rectify the whole situation as a non-issue…..sounds like something wrong very likely transpired….shall see who was connected and the degree of salary intervention if any can be proven.
LMAO!!! Calm down folks. The rules for maximum punishment are already spelled out in the CBA.
“Under the circumvention rules of the NBA’s 2023 collective bargaining agreement, teams can be punished for circumventing the league’s salary cap. Penalties can include fines up to $7.5 million, direct forfeiture of draft picks, voiding any player contract and a suspension — up to a year — for any team personnel found to have engaged in such a violation.”
You really think the other Billionaires are gonna put in a rule that could force them to lose their franchise?
LOL. This is the ultimate car crash. Nobody really gets hurt. But Karma is a bitch, isn’t she?
And this is the age where almost everything is texts and emails and videos. There’s a pretty big trail that the reporters have put together. And league is investigating.
Let us see if the league gives in to the deep pockets of Ballmer. Mongo, you asked “You really think the other Billionaires are gonna put in a rule that could force them to lose their franchise?”….I feel money would.
Those are absolutely minimal for Ballmer’s wallet. Let’s see what really will become of the investigation. The punishment must be significant enough to impact the guilty…and there are a number off guilty people in this story. Wonder if the IRS gets into the thick of this….althought they will be appeased when paid. What happened with in the Joe Smith case was over 2 decades ago, and the rules and fines absolutely should have been amended in the time since. $7.5 million then musta hurt….as much as say a $75 million fine today (another sum which Ballmer would have no qualms paying…adjusted for inflation, it would be $33 million today).
Everyone getting all huffy forgetting that the biggest punishment ever levied against an owner was for Donald Sterling (unironically also the last Clippers owner) for being a complete racist (and getting caught…which was the true crime in our awesome society…)and even that didn’t outright force him to sell the team.
Everyone also seems to forget that the Timberwolves ended up being gifted back 2 of the 5 picks they were asked to forfeit. Even the 2nd worst punishment ever was ever was half walked back. This is just another dog and pony show lol.
There is no way Silver will “force” Balmer to sell. I don’t think he can, legally, he can ban him from attending NBA games, entering NBA facilities and so forth. I doubt it goes that far. They’ll get fined, he might have to fire Lawrence Frank or some other House cleaning/optics move, and they might lose 3-4 draft picks (of which they already have few). That’s it.
