Aloha,
As I have posted the Bradley Beal buyout situation has held up the summer. Once that clears up there will be options for the Lakers.
The Lakers are apparently monitoring the Marcus Smart buy out talks. With the exception of the Lakerholics blog there hasn’t been anything new incoming trade interest. Boston may also be interested but at this stage of his career would he prefer to have a chance at a ring?
Deanthony Melton is still out there. He was a target coming into the summer but then the Warriors showed interest and they have more money. But they are also interested in Beal and probably can’t get both. I think he is our best option because he is a true two way guy that can run an offense and guard 1 through 3. The only reason he’s in the bargain bin was the injury last year.
Amir Coffee is a guy that’s flying under the radar. He is solid wing defender with a 108 defensive rating and he shot 40% from 3 last year.
Josh Okogie is also out there but I’m not high on him. He’s similar to Vando, all defense, no offense.
I think the Lakers will have a shot at one of these guys. I don’t have a lot of faith in a trade happening at this time. Maybe later in the year but without draft capital it will be hard.
