BEN SIMMONS AS LAKERS POA GUARD!The Lakers need an elite point-of-attack defense-first point guard who can defend multiple positions and run the offense when Luka Doncic is off the floor.Ben Simmons is a 6' 10" 240 lb elite defensive point guard who can defend all five… https://t.co/2p6mMfQQzh pic.twitter.com/1j1Zsf7Y7L— LakerTom (@LakerTom) July 4, 2025
Have you wondered why Simmons is still available? He played in the first 5 playoff games. He played a total of 42 minutes. Scored 4 points and 6 assists over those 5 games. Lue didn’t trust him enough to even play him in the last 2 games. Something broke in this guy. He hasn’t been good since that 76ers playoff loss.
Oh then there is Isaac, a player so fragile that they only play him 15 minutes a game.
I’m thinking that a solid veteran center would be the main target now….if not now, then would have to wait to see who is available on roster cuts at beginning of season, but would need an available roster spot at that time. Expendables but not truly desirable, IMHO, are Vincent, Kleber (until he shows otherwise), Vanderbilt, Milton….and I’m really getting tired of all the talk about how Knecht has fallen out of grace of the team because of the midseason failed trade….I like Knecht and want to see his improvement into his second year. The roster is making some sense age-wise…..saw an article about Miami wanting Hachimura, Knecht and a first round pick for Wiggins…..wow, Pat Riley needs to stay out of the sun…it’s gotten to him….
