Aloha,
This should be a wake up call for those that believe in click bait articles and trade machines. The Magic gave up good players in KCP and Cole Anthony. Plus 4 1st round picks. That’s what trades for really good players look like. So if you’re dreaming of the Lakers trading for JJJ stop it now! The Lakers do not have the assets to trade for high end players.
We have like 1 1/2 draft picks to send out 57 years out, We have players that people want, sure, but more that come with fit questions/issues. Some of those guys (Vando, Kleber) could play their way into meaningful trade convos…by the trade deadline…next season. At best.
About a trade being allowed before the season is over for all teams….I actually don’t think it should be allowed. Trading should start…IMHO…72 hrs after the end of the NBA Finals……
LMAO. The Lakers have the trading chips to solve their roster issues. They just have to be willing to use them. Austin Reaves is the key trading chip the Lakers need to be willing to use. The simple reality is that Luka and Austin cannot be a championship backcourt. Lakers must either trade Reaves or move him to the bench. Smart decision is to trade him while his price is highest.
Tom we don’t. We have one first round pick. Our swaps are almost worthless, especially 2026 and 28. Our two most desirable players, Austin and Rui both will be free agents next year. That devalues their trade value. We can literally be out bid for any quality player that comes on the market.
I was thinking how 4 first round picks in a trade for one player is a bit much…then realized Paul George was in that deal for SGA, Gallinari and 5 first round picks between the Thunder and the Clippers…(but in my opinion, at the time, SGA’s rookie season with the Clippers did not look that fabulous….no indication of his improvement, in drawing fouls….(SGA coulda become the 2nd non-coming of THT)…
